Emily Law
President, Editor-in-Chief
Emily is currently in her 4th-year, pursuing a double major in Psychology and English at the University of British Columbia which is based on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations. Through her studies, Emily seeks to understand the individual in both intra- and interpersonal levels; specifically, how the interplay between the human mind, societal and cultural factors influence and create one’s identity. An avid storyteller, she spends her time thinking about the world and our place in it, sharing stories of her experiences as a 2nd-generation Chinese-Canadian settler. Outside of work, you can find her journaling, making music, building models or taking a nap! Emily is especially grateful for the opportunity to study at UCI this school year as an exchange student!
Eric Nguyen
Vice President, External Affairs
Eric is currently in his 3rd-year at the University of California, Irvine, where he is pursuing a double major in English and Literary Journalism. Based in Garden Grove’s Little Saigon, he seeks to uplift the voices of the city’s Vietnamese inhabitants while expanding on their origins and diverse culture. In pursuit of this goal, Eric seeks to establish works of fiction and nonfiction writing, as well as journalism covering the daily lives of Little Saigon’s lively citizens. When talking to him, you’ll discover that there’s a large variety of topics to discuss: The best Star Wars show that is Andor, the latest chapter of Viral Hit, or perhaps whether Buakaw would defeat Saenchai in a fight. Outside of all endeavors, Eric can most certainly be spotted in your local card shop haggling for a good price on Pokemon cards.
Kane Hong
Vice President, Internal Affairs
Kane is currently in his 3rd-year, pursuing a double major in Political Science and English at the University of California, Irvine. He is acutely interested in urban politics, and foreign policy. His journalistic pieces discussed ongoing political issues across Orange County. As a filmmaker based in OC and LA, he has made films on topics ranging from mental health to gender violence. Above all, Kane is a storyteller who enjoys reading and conjuring stories regarding coming of age and the fleeting moments of adolescence that never quite leave the mind. Naturally, his favorite book, Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison, has his thoughts soaring above the clouds. Outside of his endeavors, he loves cooking, Final Fantasy XIV, and working out. Most of all, he’s always happy to play a round of Coup.

Brandon Lo
I am a Game Design & Interactive Media major minoring in Creative Writing. I wanted to help highlight developing artists and writers in the UCI community, and give them a platform to broadcast their work, as this could be their very first time publishing anything! My first time was through my school’s literary magazine and I felt so proud of that work for making it in at the time.
Daniel Perez Pichardo
I’m an English major with an Education minor. I joined Echolalia because it sounded really interesting, and I felt like doing work as an editor would be really good for me as a writer.
Erica Leal
I’m a Literary Journalism major with an English minor! I joined Echolalia because I think there’s something really powerful about the art of storytelling. Not only do I love to write and create stories myself, but I can’t wait to work with others in sharing their stories as well!

I’m an English major who joined Echolalia because I want to help others write and share stories, and I believe this journal is a great way to do so. I also want to be more involved at UCI and learn about the editing process.

I am an English major with a Linguistics minor! I joined Echolalia because I wanted to more directly contribute to creating and promoting the creative stories and academic accomplishments of UCI student writers and researchers through a student-run medium!

I’m an English and International Studies major with a Creative Writing minor, and I joined Echolalia because I’m excited to be part of a student-led journal. This to me seemed like a great opportunity to get involved and expand my skills.
Naomi Acosta
I’m majoring in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, with a Creative Writing minor! I joined because I love what Echolalia stood for: a journal for undergraduates for any type of writing. It was the inclusivity as well as the theme that interested me.
Olivia Mondragon
I’m a Psychological Science major and Creative Writing minor! I joined Echolalia because I love reading creative works (outside of class) and helping people fulfill their vision for their piece. It also gives me a chance to keep up with writing even when my own pieces feel overwhelming!

I’m majoring in English with a History minor. I joined Echolalia because I wanted to read stories from our student community, as well as to help share the creative and personal stories of everyone!

I’m majoring in English with an undeclared Film minor. I joined Echolalia because i wanted to read stories and experiences that came from undergraduates, as well as to gain experience in editing the works of others.
