In the Kitchen

Poetry by Ariana Marie Vargas

Edited by Emily Ferguson

I washed a mug that didn’t need washing,
and dried it even after it was dry,
offered you an orange

(please,

take something of me)

that you refused,
so I ate it alone,
peeling slowly,
and thinking of you.
