Fever Dream

Poetry by Chelsea Wen

It’s not paranoia if it comes true

Now what do to think; what do to do?

If the darkest nightmare is confirmed

It feeds the disgusting devouring worm

Irrational fear or something of note?

The lines are blurred, the waking-world in smoke

Wake up!

scattered masked

colliding

smashed into pieces beautiful glass shards

conflict untruths disregard

disregard (nothing to see)

If no one is right, then they’re all wrong

Blind sided, not siding

Surrender connection, smashed alarm clock song

You can ring ‘til you’re red in the poker face

Poker fake, stoking the flames, pants on fire!

Now running in another circle

Form from a bending rubber camel’s back

Growing an itch that can’t be seen

Crawling under the skin, crawl out of skin

Shed it, rid it, basilisk!

Depart, leave it all behind–

Except it will never come off–

Wake up!

An illusion/hallucination

The commonly accepted rumor

The date itself construct

When did the moon turn into a sun again?

Does it matter?

no no No

No no

No no

no no!

Wake up!

but you cant but you cant but you cant but you cant but you cant but you cant but you cant but you cant but you cant but you cant
